This may be a terrible pet peeve of mine, or it may just because I am a perfectionist, but I cannot stand seeing things ill-formatted or having to see oodles and oodles of questions of how to do this and that. I am going out of my way to inform you of the magic of BBCode, the simplified HTML.
You may be thinking, What in the world is BBCode? I am glad you asked because I am here to answer such plea.
The BB in BBCode stands for Bulletin Board. BBCode is a simplified, and easier, version of HTML. So, instead of rewriting a wall of text just to tell the computer to make colored headings, a bold font face, a different font size, etc. You can turn what seemed to be a tedious task into a simple sentence form. BBCoded contains [ ], square brackets, in place of < > like in HTML. It gives the user a greater control over what is going to be performed. Whether it's bolding text, underlining text, italisizing text, making things large or small, applying a superscript, a subscript,crossing outdated information out, or even changing the color and making the font different, it is a matter of adding specific things to tell the computer to do it.
You see all those effects I made on the text? Yes, you see it, but you may not know how I did that. You see, when you type your post in the spiffy paragraph box of the forum, you may be on the Preview tab. It is similar to a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that is on certain programs and software dedicated to editing HTML on web pages. (even our forum has one!) If you look next to the Preview tab, you will see the BBCode tab. This is where the magic happens. On this tab, you will see all of the coding you have done by just clicking the buttons in the tool bar above your little paragraph box. Now, do not get intimidated by all of the symbols that may seem like a foreign language, that will only lead to frustration.
How to do it: Leave out the *.
[*b] [/b] = Bold lettering
[*i] [/i] = Italics
[*u] [/u] = Underline
[*s] [/s] =Strikethrough
[*sup] [/sup] = Superscript
[*sub] [/sub] = Subscript
Specific Details: Leave out the beginning spaces, but the space between "font size/color" must stay!
[ font size = "#1-7"] [/font]
[ font color = "hex color code"] [/font] You must have the hex number, not the name of the color. Otherwise, the computer will not know what you mean. It must be specific! If you want a specific shade, tint, or hue then it would be good if you hop on over to www.color-hex.com/ where you can search for any color and get the different hex numbers. (For example, pure red is #ff0000).
[ font face = "font name"] [/font] It will have to be a font that Proboards, the forum host, supports. If you want to check which ones that it may support, then try it out. Just fill in the entire name of the font in BBCode(again, you need to be specific) and click preview. If it changes, then it works. If not, then it may not be compatible.
Miscellaneous: Leave out the spaces, but the space between "div align" must stay!
Center = [ div align="center" ] [ / div]
Left = [ div align="left" ] [ / div]
Right = [ div align="right" ] [ / div]
Justify = [ div align="justify" ][ / div]
Horizontal Divider/Rule = [ hr ]
Leave out spaces, but keep the space between "a href."
Hyperlink = [ a href=" URL " ]words[/a] - Example: Google
*This forum's BBCode still has some HTML feel to it, but it is virtually the same. Elsewhere, you may have true BBCoding. Proboards may just have wanted to make it their own form of BBCode + HTML system.

Tagging another in a post to get their attention. @'username' It must be their forum username, not the display name! The username is on their profile. To see their username, simply click their display name and you should see their forum username. For example, my username is "doqneiqh," therefore you would put @ doqneiqh (w/o space) = Willow Deerblanket . With this, it will notify the player that you have tagged them in a post.
How to post an image in the forum has already been covered, so I cannot take credit over that. Please read that post concerning images.
Try and experiment with BBCode, get yourself familiarized with it. Play around with it and see what you can or cannot do!
Thank you for taking time to read this, I try to lend a hoof/paw when it's needed. I hope this helps you or at least gives you an idea of how things work.
