Posted this on another forum. Too lazy to rerwrite:
So i'm not big a on roleplay. I find in most roleplays, players are often trying to write their characters as protoganist so it's more a dominance battle instead of a story. I've decided to break my "no roleplay streak" and ask if anyone would like to become a part of one for Harry Potter. Not sure if it'll be set during the books or nexr generation. I'm talking with another member, and we're thinking books starting with Order of the Phoenix. Then we can write character meeting scenes during and in between D.A meetings. But I wanna figure out the interest level right now. There are, however, a few conditions you should look at if you want to join:
You're allowed to break canon if it's something very small. As an example, my HP character Amanda Bardsley ends up marrying George Weasley in the 2000's, and has four children (including the oldest boy, Fred, which aligns with canon). His canon marriage to Angelina Johnson isn't mentioned or hinted at in the last book (SPOILERS FROM DEATHLYH HALLOWS: to be honest i thought it was weird that she went with one twin to the ball and married the other years later after Fred dies), so it's a very small detail. However, if you wish your character to replace Ginny as Harry Potter's girlfriend...yeah, no. It requires a re-construction of that particular sub plot, and i think it would be simpler if we try to keep things as is. But i can't be like REEE ALL ENTIRELY CANON so small things with little or not impact on the story are fine! If you want to write a Ravenclaw and you want them to be on the Quidditch team, go for it! I don't think we find out the names of all the Quidditch players on Ravenclaw. Or any time other than Gryffindor.
I'm looking for 4-5 particpants. I have 2 interested outside of the forums. So i'm done to 3 spots. That's all I have for now. If I think of any other conditions, I'll post them as a comment below. Let me know if you have any questions.

- You need to be available all year, including during the school year - Of course you have school, and when paper and exam time came around i'm not going to be like REEEEEEE COME BACK HERE. But you need to be available to participate in this RP for a majority of the year. When busy school time comes around, you gotta let me know and then, perhaps, write something in the roleplay excusing your character for a while those left can continue. In addition, if you stop participating, after a significant amount of time (a month, let's say) you'll be written out.
- No one is the main protagonist - Seriously. If someone tries to make their character the main protoganist, it's an auto kick. We're a team, so we work as a team.
- You have to be willing to help plan - Yeah. I find planning doesn't generate random, foundationless plot. You know that there are events the characters have to work up to, so you work towards it, and you can figure out your characters part in the main plotline so no one is left out.
- You have to be willing to put effort into your character - This isn't one of those "ooohhh fill out this really short profile and we're going BAM." This RP will require some in depth characters. And in-depth characters will take time. You have to be willing to put that time into your character. Also, Mary Sue's aren't allowed. No perfect characters here.
- You have to use and have access to discord - The forums are too slow. Discord is much quicker and efficient for this kind of thing. It's where we will plan, show each other our characters, and roleplay.
