Far from the fractured deserts and toxic cattle ranges, farther still from the more civilized parts of the west, lies a vast expanse of free land. This land is sparse at best, with high red rock walls and slim sagebrush meadows. The sturdy cottonwoods keep watch over the lands hearty inhabits. Coyotes, wild dogs and the sly fox. Jack rabbits and cotton tails. Rattlers and scorpions. Lizards, owls and fat horned toads. Even stranger still, large birds of prey. Larger than any normal hawk or even eagle these birds are like their smaller cousins, only four times as large. Big enough to sink its talons into a newborn foals back and lift it into the endless blue sky with ease. The other dessert hunters include the amber eyed cougars, sharp of tooth and silent on clawed paws. Other grazing creatures feed the predators, mule deer and the most challenging and rewarding meal, the wild horses. Only the most adaptable and resilient survive here, seasoned stallions and wise mares care for soft foals, who do not know of the hardship layed out before them. Creatures who were once man's slave no longer heed the calls of the grain bucket or human tongue. They do not know the sting of a spur or the fiery bite of a brand. Foreign is the weight of a saddle or pressure of a bit. Never have they yielded to the pull of a rope. They are pure, untouched and unbroken. Herds roam the harsh lands, stallion's establish wide ranges and complex dynamics within their ever changing bands. Nothing ever stays the same within this odd kinds of paradise, only the strong will thrive.
Rules! and other important stuff
Just the basics here,
No power playing
No being rude, have some common sense please
No Mary sues
Only have as many characters as you can handle. Make it reasonable. Lets say eight is the max, I might make exceptions if your dying to have another character.
Foals will be a part of this, just don't go into detail okay?
Speaking of foals....
Mares may be joined with a foal or in foal, but they wont be born until spring
Mares may only foal safely in spring or summer
Foals born in fall or winter will die, no exceptions. Mares who foal during this time will be very prone to complications and may die as well, or at least be very weak or sick, leaving them victim to the elements or predators.
Twin foals! How rare, and very very dangerous. There will only be two pairs of twins born each year. One pair will be born sick and weak, or one twin might have a defect. The other will be more devastating. This birth will have major complications. One foal will be born still born, the other by some miracle survives the birth, but is very small and very frail. The mare will die in the process. Message me if you want to sign up for a foal slot. I will use a random number generator. 1-10. if the number is odd the all three survive, if even, the mare and one twin will perish. You will not know which birth you rolled until both slots are full.
Okay so this is my first RP. I loooove wild horse RPs, so I hope you will have a good time with this one. As you might have gathered from above. Life here is hard, and your characters will struggle. Just keep that in mind as the story progresses. We have two lovely herds already established. I don't believe there will be any more. So if you have a stallion who wants his own group of mares, he will have to befriend mares who are not part of a band, or steal from other stallions.
Your characters may steal from the herds. This steal will be played out between the character stealing and the character defending. It is up to the character to be civil and fair to decide who leaves with the stolen horse. If they cannot come to an agreement you may come to me and I will make an unbiased decision based on the thought, realism (body langue, feasible attacks so on so fourth) and how the characters respond accordingly.
Now the Scorch Valley Band has seemed to decided to ignore how its always been done. This band is mare led, and she defiantly won't take too kindly to any stallions, if you catch my drift. This will be the only mare led band, if a mare wants to escape its the same principle as stealing.
Ranks are first come first serve. Though I am limiting one high rank(Lead mare, band stallion) per person. Please message me if you want a high rank.
I know its a lot good job if you read it! Anything I need to include or improve upon? Don't be afraid to speak up! Plot ideas? Throw them this way.

A spitfire of a mare, spunky and bold. She is vigilant and extremely dedicated. However her seemingly endless drive to provide the best for her head is also her downfall. One day she will break beneath the responsibility she forces upon herself. Despite her almost delicate outward appearance, she is born from desert hardship. No stranger to fear or challenge. This mare is like a river, cool and deep. She is calm and level headed carving out a living in the unforgiving landscape, but she can also be swift and deadly in her punishment. A single misstep could be certain doom. It all depends on the time of day you cross her.

Deceptively sweet, this mare is the goddess of mischief. She is quick witted and apologetically herself. Sometimes her jests are all in good fun, other times they are just cruel. She was a breath of fresh air for her no-nonsense older sister. However Jackal wasn't keen to stick around for long. She is a restless spirit with an untamable heart. A fleeting treasure of the dessert, just as cruel as the shifting sands.
