What player behavior do you consider rude? What bothers you most? What do you do about it? Any suggestions? I'd like to hear from others here.
My only real go-to is the "Ignore button" (if I can). Here's what I consider the worst player rudeness:
1. Race stalkers: This is when someone lurks around a race training site waiting for someone to show up. Then the moment the newcomer starts the race, the stalker jumps in and either tries to compete or to trip up the other player just for fun. OMG!!! This is the worst! I didn't give them permission to race me, and it's just plain mean girl stuff to trip someone up intentionally. It's usually someone in the higher levels: 18 and up. Are they bored or what???
2. Race crazies: For these players, everything and everywhere is a race track: They run full gallop through villages and stables, jumping over everything and everyone they can. They ram right through other players and right through your quests, sometimes forcing you to restart. If I'm at Moorland, I chalk it up to their being newbees, but when they are higher level players, it's just plain rude!
3. Quest stalkers: These are players who barge into the middle of your quest, hanging around and trying to interrupt and distract you. What is that about??? Either they don't know how to do the quest or they're just plain being mean girls. Either way, it's rude. The worst was when I was in the library with Linda having to read all those history books for the "opening the Jarls Tomb" quest. Another player showed up in the library and kept hiding behind Linda so that I couldn't "Ignore" her. Then she used the chat sound effects to repeat "yoo hoo" over and over again while I was trying to read. Seriously?
My general rule is that I hit "ignore" anytime someone's behavior bothers me. But some players have been around for a while and know exactly how to thwart even your attempts to "Ignore" them. If someone is bored with the game and resorting to harassing other players for fun, they should quit the game and go somewhere else!
I've been playing only a few months, so I'd love to hear from others who've been playing a while. What do you consider over the top rude? What actions do you take?
