Man, it's been a long time since I've been on this forum.
But anyway, because I remembered that this other-games-thread still existed, I really wanted to talk about a horse browser-game called Morning Dust Ranch. Sadly, it's solely in german, but I've met english-speaking players on there too already.
It's a pretty realistic 2D-game, which is all about the care and breeding of horses. I mean, imagine howrse, but in realistic and better. I know there are other games kind of like it (horse reality, equine passion,..), but none of those got me so stuck on the game. Sadly I always find the graphics of those games too dark (? Do you know what I mean here?) - I'm more of a cartoonish-looking fan. I've been playing for exactly a year and was online every single day.
The biggest difference to other realism games is, that it's really slow-acting, but not holding you back either. From the day I first started out, till the day I was finally able to breed with my first mare, 3 real-life months had come and passed.
It's building a lot on the community itself, as you have to work together to get the horses to be breed-able.
Of course there's realistic color inheritance and a good care-system, as you have to decide when to give your horse a blanket (cold weather) or put it in the stable (thunderstorms) and stuff. The horses get sick and/or die pretty easily if you forget the game for a few days and you have to work pretty hard for your money. It takes a lot of work and effort to get anywhere in the game and if you dont watch out for yourself, you'll be deep enough in depts that you'll never get out. You really have to handle your money well - it doesn't get thrown after you like in some other games.
There's no tutorial yet - all you get are pages and pages of FAQs and a Newbie Guide to read through. It's quiet the challenge, but one you'll be addicted for after only a few days. It's not a game for everyone - many start an account just for it to be tossed a few days after, because the game is too complex for them.
Different weather, for which you have to take precautions for your horses. Different food-types for different purposes, a conformation-show for young horses to compete against other players to officially become breeding animals, competitions, interior of the horses and even leasing horses to others.
My ingame name there is JulietTara and you can send me messages there anytime you want, if you decide to check the game out and learn about it.
