Short piece. Wanted to write something SSO related.
The wind pulled Renee's hair back. Clovercloud bolted over the fields near Steve's farm, tilting his head every once and a while and producing a great neigh. Darkness had crept upon the land of Jorvik some hours ago, but Renee had no intention of heading back to Mistfall anytime soon. Misty, Renee's red and white fox, struggled to keep up. The young girl turned, and saw the fox several feet behind her. She signaled for her horse to slow down until he was trotting.
Misty caught up quickly. She exchanged glances with Renee, "I tire of this."
Renee tilted her head, "I thought you wanted to run beside Clovercloud."
"Yes," Misty said, "but how do you expect my little legs to keep up with a Champion racer?"
Renee chuckled, "I don't know. You could ride in the saddle-"
"I'm a shape-shifter," Misty said, "not a lap dog."
"You said you liked the saddle bag."
"No," Misty said, "I said I preferred the saddlebag. But that was different."
She was use to Misty making excuses and changing her story. Renee threw her hands in the air, "How was that different!?"
"We were running from those KED-"
"GED," Renee muttered.
If Misty heard her, she didn't let on, "...people. I don't want to be left behind. It's much safer in the saddlebag."
"I'm not slowing down," Renee groaned, "if you don't like it, I can get you a horse and you can ride it instead."
"Seriously?" Misty said, "if I shape-shift now, I'll be naked."
"I never said now," Renee said, "we can return to Mistfall. And you can change, and we can return."
Silence fell upon the duo. Misty sat and scratched an itch behind her ear with her left foot. After a few minutes, she sighed, "Fine."
"Just so you know," Renee said, making Clovercloud turn around and start towards Steve's farm, "if we get caught after hours, I'm blaming you."
