As if girls are always complete angels. Both sides can be equally as awful to each other. In fact, I'd say girls are worse. Boys are often physical bullies. Girls are emotional. Where a boy might shove you, a girl will find your weakness and target it. Emotional scars are harder to heal than physical. Lord of the Flies likely wouldn't have changed all that much with girls at the front. All the problems with this game's player base are proof enough.
The worst I read was The Ancient Curse by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. The rushed, and felt forced, romance really killed it for me. And the fact the main character was so hung up on being single. He couldn't look at one of his familiar female friends without commenting on her face or body. His brilliant historian, I think she was, friend was just a pity to be single because she was pretty and had a nice body. Ugh.
Twilight was actually the worst that I've ever read and the only one I stopped reading halfway through. I made it to the end of The Ancient Curse. I hate ending a story. I feel like I don't have the right to say anything about it unless I do. But the obvious problems with Twilight aside, the last line I read was something about "squashy green stuff" covering her favorite color, brown. Grass. She was talking about grass. Are you trying to be poetic or flowery with "squashy green stuff?"
This is a little more complicated than just being the worst, but here goes. The absolute BEST series of books that I have ever read, hands down, is the "Earths Children" books by Jean Auel. Up until the end of the fourth book. Introduce books 5 & 6 in the series & they are literally, without a doubt the absolute WORST books I have ever read. I got through the tortuous boredom of book 5 believing that it was leading up to something epic in book 6, but book 6 was so bad that I couldn't even make it half way through. I was then stupid enough to ask someone who HAD finished it what had happened, to end up screaming, crying, tearing out my hair then gaping stupidly into space in shock/horror/disbelief. I still have a repeat of that moment every time I even think about it Read the first four books, they are truly incredible, then put down the series as finished - the fourth book leaves it open for you to imagine things ending in a way that befits the heroine & everything that the series seemed to be leading up to. Never EVER pick up the books that follow, or I promise that you will rue the day you did
I'm gonna kinda sorta second this. For me though, the cutoff point was after the first book already. Everything after that just starts to spiral down, and while the last is definitely the worst, to me it all starts to crack when the romance kicks off. While it left me more indifferent than actively upset, I haven't ever truly read a book I actively disliked. I'm not inclined to pick them up, and even less inclined to read past the first few pages I guess.

The worst book I've ever read is Throne of Glass. I borrowed the book from my sister to see what all the fuss was about and oh boy was I in for a horrible experience. It's basically about this assassin lady who spends the whole book deciding between two boys that she can't date anyway as opposed to the actual reason she's there! The only thing that matches it in how ridiculous it is (that I've read) is The Host.
My sister kept insisting it gets better in later books, but I don't wanna touch them. I'll stick to Robin Hobb's books and Harry Potter.

Worst book? Probably The Fault in Our Stars. I couldn't make it through the second chapter. The characters are the blandest things since cardboard, the writing is poor, and the dialogue is sooo unnatural. I just couldn't bring myself to care about anything that was going on. I don't understand the hype people had or how it was a New York Times bestseller.
savannahriverfish120: Does anyone have any negative opinions on the jorvik pony? it's one of the few horses I don't have.
