It's 1870 and it's been nearly a century since Firgrove was founded. To this day, it is the only
town within this new land, this land that has yet to be explored. Oddly enough, no one has even
dared to explore past the long, broad river that isolates them from the rest of this world. This
is because of the Indians that are said to occupy the farther reaches of the river, and those who
manage to get outside of its limits have never been seen again, or so it's been said. Only one has
ever been back, and they have claimed to see so much more. Land that stretches for miles, endless
forests, fertile land, and, the best of all, herds of wild horses just waiting to be tamed! The town
thought him crazy, and even then they still would not leave their safe haven for fear of their own
lives. Stories have still been told, but still no one dares. Will anyone ever get across that river again?
There's only one way to find out.
~Beyond Those Western Skies~
Beyond Those Western Skies is, obviously, a Western-like roleplay. This roleplay is centered in the Jorvik area, except it's more or less in AU form. Like mentioned, it's 1870, and Firgrove is the only town up and about right now. Everything else in Jorvik is completely forest... or at least that's what speculated. In this AU, there are cowboys, cowgirls, Indians(or Native Americans), and just about everything else you'd find in your average, everyday Western television show. In this roleplay, people can rp just about anybody, as well as horses. It's completely up to you!
Keep in mind, however, there are some rules and regulations.
I prefer semi-lit to lit, as I can be very literate, but anyone can join. Just be aware that it can be a little frustrating when someone types out a giant post, only to get a couple sentences back.
Please keep the rules in mind. What goes on here must fall in line with the forum rules as well.
Please keep it realistic. We don't need cowboys sproutin' crystal wings and flying off into the blue sunset.
Drama is fine, just not among others. We're all friends here. This town is big enough for all of us.
Want a little romance? It's totally cool, just be aware if it gets to be too much, go find another place to continue it out. It can, at times, get to be a little much.
Anyone can use horse characters, human characters, or both. There isn't really a limit on how many characters you have, at least not as of yet, so long as you keep them active. If we don't hear from them for a while, then that character will have to die or leave somehow. This rule does not apply to background characters.
Well, that's all for the regulations and rules as of now. More may be added at a later date, but for now let's get to the good stuff!
As one can see, Firgrove hasn't changed much since then. We can see where everything is. The main stable is for the locals. Only locals can use the main stable. Any sort of drifter is forced to use the holding stables, which costs to rent. The Saloon is where bar fights n' stuff happen, although the Saloon doesn't sell any sort of alcohol. In fact, it exclusively sells juices. Although one can probably get very loopy on a lot of juice, in which they'd probably act a little drunk, it can be hard to get to that point. Town Hall is where disputes are settled, but that's about it. The rest of the small houses are for local townsfolk. The larger buildings are stores that can be bought and owned, so long as you got the supplies you need. Anyone can go beyond the town, so long as they come back at a decent time, although townsfolk born and raised in this place know NEVER to pass the river. Most of them spend their time in the lake, fishing or doing other everyday things such as chopping trees, working in town, wrangling cattle or selling horses. There are plenty of other means to make cash as well.
-Town regulations and rules-
Never, under any circumstance, cross the river.
Children and teenagers must be within the town walls by 6 p.m.
All lights out by 10 p.m.
Saloon does not open until noon.
Horses lost or without owner must be brought to holding stables until further notice. If no one picks up horse, horse is auctioned off.
Take care of your horse. It's your only means of transportation.
(more may be added. This is still just starting out)
To join, you must have a picture of your character. It can be a horse found on the internet or a horse from Star Stable, just be sure to list a couple differences between the horses. In game, everyone's looks the same. Try to create a little diversity. You can add scars, or other markings, just about anything to make them a little different from the rest. Your horse can be a wild horse or a tame horse. If tame with no owner, they must stay in the holding stables to be, ultimately, auctioned off. A branding of some sort is optional, if that is desired. Human characters can be part of the Firgrove community or part of the Indian tribe farther into the woods. If you do decide to make a Native American character, however, you will need to live without describing a tribe for a while. I still need to find a good place to put them in and I have no reference when it comes to the tribe as of yet. With enough activity, we may get there.
Please describe the basics of your character. Traits like gender, age, height, personality, etc. You can get as detailed as you want. Also pick your occupation. Horses and humans can have occupations. If your a horse with an owner, list the owner. And if your the owner, list your horse or horses. If people need a template for a bio, I can do that to. Please let me know if this is the case.
Any other questions? Lemme know! Hope to see you around!
